Founded in 1979, the Aspen Art Museum (AAM) is a non-collecting contemporary art museum located in Aspen, Colorado, United States.
The AAM is currently located in a converted 9,000-square-foot (840 m²) former, hydroelectric plant at 590 North Mill Street, near downtown Aspen. AAM exhibitions include drawings, paintings, sculptures, multimedia installations, and electronic media.
The Aspen Art Museum (AAM) is due to open its new Shigeru Ban-designed museum building to the public on Saturday, August 9, 2014. Shigeru Ban is the winner of the 2014 Pritzker Architecture Prize. The new AAM facility is his first U.S. museum to be constructed.
