Los Angeles or City of Los Angeles, often abbreviated as L.A., is a major city in the western United States.
He is the second most populous city in the United States after New York City and is the largest city in California. The Spanish explorers named a beautiful river in Spanish "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula", in English it is "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the Porciúncula River". On 4 September 1781, the settlers of the Mission San Gabriel founded the town and named after the river, but in a shorter form. Its official name is "El Pueblo de la Reina de los Ángeles", or "City of Angels."
