Athens is the capital of the Greece state. In Modern Greece language (language Dhimotiki) the city was called Athina or Αθήνα,
while in ancient Greece and Katharevousa language called Ἀθῆναι "Athenai", the plural of Ἀθήνη-"Athene", the name of the Greece goddess Athena.

The city has a population of about 700,000 souls, but when calculated with its metropolitan area, its population is approximately 3.5 million people. Athena is also a center of economic, cultural, political Greece.

Athena is also often referred to as the origin of Western civilization as the various cultural achievements in the 4th century and 5th and make it rich in a variety of buildings, monuments, and works of ancient art.
