Mount Ruapehu is an active volcano located in the south of Taupo Volcanic Zone, New Zealand. It is located about 23 km northeast town of Ohakune,
or 40 km southwest of Lake Taupo in the North Island.
The volcano is surrounded by glaciers, with three main peaks which Tahurangi (2,797 masl), Te Heuheu (2,755 masl) and Paretetaitonga (2,751 masl). Crater Lake is located in between the peaks.
